About Crookwell

Crookwell is in the Upper Lachlan region that borders the Southern Highlands at the northern end of the Southern Tablelands. Its close proximity to Canberra (1.5 hours) and Sydney (3 hours) has added a new dimension to the travels of garden lovers from these major cities. In addition to its proximity to Sydney and Canberra, this area is renowned for its magnificent long vistas, rolling hills and its four very distinct seasons.

It is a cool climate region with deep, fertile soils situated at 700 to 1100 metres above sea level that, while sometimes challenging, makes for superb garden development when the right cool climate plants are combined.

The 2023 host gardens will be a wonderful representation of what can be achieved in any garden, large or small, with vision, creative expression and a desire to connect with nature.

Crookwell town and the villages of the Upper Lachlan Shire welcome visitors. From Collector to Tuena, and Bigga to Taralga, come and meet our friendly locals and enjoy our many delights, including great food, stunning landscapes and comfy accommodation.
